Prior to your admission, it is important that you understand the cost of your hospital stay and the payment policies. Your hospital bill will be made up of the hospital’s fee and the doctor’s fee, these will vary according to the selected room category.
Hospital fees and packages
Hospital fees are charged as packaged or non-packaged. A range of packages is offered at pre-determined prices to cover the most frequently performed procedures. You will be automatically enrolled onto a hospital package if one is available for your procedure. You cannot be downgraded once you are admitted. If you choose to upgrade, the entire package, including the doctors’ fees will be charged at the higher rate. There is no refund on packages for early discharge. ‘
There are two types of packages available:
Hospital Fee Packages
These packages are offered at pre-determined prices. Overnight packages include nursing care, room (meals included) and treatment normally associated with the procedure, as stated within the package. Day case packages also include nursing care, procedure and room fee (meals excluded) as stated in the procedure.
These packages do not include doctor’s fee.
Additional notes on Maternity Packages
The maternity package commences on the day your baby is born. If you are admitted for a normal vaginal delivery there is no additional room charge for the delivery suite the night before your baby is born (the use of a separate patient room will incur charges). If you are admitted for an induction of labour there is a specific package rate for this which includes accommodation. For multiple pregnancies 30% of the package charge is added for each additional baby.
Total Care Packages
These packages are inclusive of both the hospital’s and doctor’s fee, allowing better cost management for your hospital stay. The packages include nursing care, room (meals included for overnight packages ) and treatment normally associated with the procedure, as stated within the package.
You can find a list of available total care packages, click here.
All doctors are private practitioners practising independently of the hospital and its administration. Doctors’ fees may vary from one doctor to another and they usually charge according to your room category. This pricing structure is common in Hong Kong and does not affect the level of care provided to you. It is in your best interest to discuss the expected charges with your doctors ahead of time. The hospital only collects doctors’ fees on their behalf.
