Room Categories and Their Respective Charges
Room choices include VIP Rooms, Private Rooms, Twin Rooms, and Standard Rooms, subject to availability.
A private room refers to any category of room with single occupancy. Rooms are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis (or for Maternity patients, first-delivered-first-served basis). If the preferred type of room is unavailable at the time of admission, you will be offered other room options.
The room rate reflects the cost of your chosen room category for the duration of your stay. It includes general nursing care, meals, and housekeeping services.
All ancillary charges, such as those related to procedures, services, medications, and supplies, are billed separately and vary according to your chosen room category:
- Includes all costs related to treatments and diagnostic services, such as the use of the operating theatre, laboratory tests (e.g., blood tests), and diagnostic imaging (e.g., X-rays, MRI, CT scans)
- Procedures extending beyond the scheduled operating theatre time...
- Procedures commencing outside of regular operating theatre hours, i.e., 21.00 to 08.00 from Mondays to Saturdays, on public holidays or during typhoon number 8 or higher, will be charged at 1.5 times the normal package rate
Tests and procedures undertaken during unsocial hours (may vary across departments); please refer here for more information.
- Stand-by charges for operating theatres (for unsocial hours &external cephalic version) should your doctor request
- Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU), phototherapy, special procedures such as External Cephalic Version and circumcision
- Special monitoring of mother or baby, treatment, medication, use of equipment, tests and nursing procedures
- Emergency services or surgery other than emergency caesarean section
- Once admitted, 48-hour notice is required if you wish to change your room category.
- Isolation rooms are allocated on written doctor instructions for clinical indications or if required by the hospital’s infection control policy. This will result in additional accommodation charges or medical fees.
- One lodger is allowed to stay with paediatric patients in all types of rooms without additional charge. For adult patients, lodging is only available in private rooms. All meals for lodgers will be charged according to the items ordered.
- The full-day rate is charged for the day of admission. There is no charge for the day of departure if check-out is before 11:30am. After 11:30am, there will be an additional charge.
- For shared rooms, the window-side bed, where applicable, is available on a first-come-first-served basis (for maternity patients on a first-delivered-first-served basis).
- While we make every effort to provide you with the room category you requested, the nature of maternity services means it cannot be guaranteed. Should your booked room category not be available, you may choose a different available room. The published room category rate will apply.

Doctors’ Professional Fees
All doctors are private practitioners practising independently of the hospital and its administration. Doctors’ fees may vary from one doctor to another, and they usually charge according to your room category. This pricing structure is common in Hong Kong and does not affect the level of care provided to you. It is in your best interest to discuss the expected charges with your doctors beforehand. The hospital only collects doctors’ fees on their behalf.
Hospital Packages
We offer thoughtfully designed packages at predetermined prices to cover the most frequently performed procedures. These packages are created with your peace of mind at the forefront. By bundling key costs into a single, transparent price, we provide financial predictability and remove the complexity of itemised billing. This approach allows you to understand the primary costs of your treatment upfront, so you can focus on what matters most—your recovery.
Two Types of Packages to Meet Your Needs
To best serve your healthcare needs, we provide two distinct types of packages at pre-determined price for many frequently performed procedure:
01 Hospital Packages
These packages cover all hospital-related charges, including your room, use of the operating theatre, and standard supplies.
Overnight packages include:

- Room (meals included)
- Treatment is normally associated with the procedure, as stated within the package
Daycare packages include:

- Procedure and room fees (meals excluded) as stated in the procedure
Packages under this category do not include a doctor’s fee.
You can find a list of available hospital packages here.
02 Total Care Packages
These all-inclusive packages offer the most comprehensive value, bundling all hospital charges (room, procedure, supplies) and the relevant doctors' fees into a single price for complete financial clarity, allowing better cost management for your hospital stay. The packages include nursing care and treatment normally associated with the procedure, as stated within the package.
You can find a list of available total care packages here.
These are for designated specialists only. If you wish to enrol in one of these packages, please contact the Patient Service Centre at (852) 2537 7407 or psc.referral@matilda.org.
Additional Notes on Maternity Packages
- The maternity package takes effect on the day your baby is born. If you are admitted for a normal vaginal delivery, the use of the delivery suite the night before your baby's birth is included at no extra charge. However, using a separate patient room will incur additional fees.
- For those admitted for an induction of labour, a specific package rate applies, which includes accommodation costs. For multiple pregnancies, an additional 35% of the package price is charged for each extra baby.
- Additional fees will apply if the mother or baby requires special monitoring, treatment, medications, the use of equipment, tests, or nursing procedures.
- Post-operative antibiotics are not included, which allows the doctor to choose the most appropriate antibiotic.
- Any extra emergency services or surgeries beyond an emergency caesarean section, as well as additional laboratory tests, cross-match procedures, and treatments and drugs for complications or pre-existing conditions, will incur additional charges.
