Influenza vaccines 2023/2024 Available now

The new seasonal influenza vaccine has arrived! The 2023/2024 seasonal influenza immunization is recommended to provide protection against the following viruses (World Health Organisation):

  • an A/Victoria/4897/2022 (H1N1) pdm09-like virus
  • an A/Darwin/9/2021 (H3N2)-like virus
  • a B/Austria/1359417/2021-like virus (B/Victoria lineage)
  • a B/Phuket/3073/2013-like virus (B/Yamagata lineage)

The VaxigripTetra influenza vaccine and Fluarix Tetra vaccine contain all of the four strains.

High risk groups include:

  • Children aged 6 months to 11 years
  • Women who are pregnant during the influenza season
  • People aged 50 years or over
  • People of any age with certain chronic conditions

Influenza vaccination is one of the effective means in preventing influenza and its complications together with reduction in influenza-associated hospitalisation and death.

Children from 6 months old can be vaccinated against influenza. Children younger than 9 years old who have never received any seasonal flu vaccine are recommended to receive a booster dose 4 weeks after the initial one. Subsequent doses should be given annually.

Adults who have registered with us before (existing patient) do not need to see a doctor for a flu vaccine. Children under age of 3 or children under 9 years old who have never had the influenza vaccine need to be assessed by a doctor first.
