In association with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM).This course is recognised internationally. Upon satisfactory completion, this instructor course will enable the participant to become a certified infant massage instructor, who can then facilitate group or private infant massage courses, and promote the concept of the nurturing touch for bonding between parent and child. What is Infant Massage?
Infant massage is an ancient technique that connects the parent and the baby. It is all about nurturing touch and communication.
Touch is a very powerful element in human bonding, as is communication, both verbal and non-verbal, and prolonged eye contact. Infant massage encompasses and supports all these vital aspects of bonding, which develops naturally in most cases. Nonetheless, bonding may sometimes be delayed due to temporary separation or circumstances caused by premature birth, recovery from caesarean sections, medical complications, adoption, lack of physical and emotional support for the mother, and post natal depression. In these cases, Infant Massage can recreate the elements of bonding. What is IAIM?
IAIM is a world renowned association for the promotion of infant massage. It is based in Sweden with branches in 52 countries. Founded by Ms Vimala McClure in the late 70s, IAIM has been outreaching to countries across the globe to promote infant massage and nurturing touch. The IAIM instructor course enables participants to gain certification as Infant Massage Instructors, who will have the responsibility to promote infant massage to families and the society.
For this course, IAIM will send a certified instructor from Sweden to lead the sessions. For the Cantonese sessions, classes are taught in English and will be translated to Cantonese by a qualified local IAIM instructor. What does a Certified Infant Massage Instructor do?
A Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI) teaches parents to massage their babies in a group or private class setting. Instructors do not massage babies. Instead, their role is to promote the nurturing touch and facilitate communication between parents and babies through teaching and coaching.
The instructors can run their own classes in any location, in group or private tuition. Every instructor has the responsibility to promote infant massage and to spread the spirit of it to the general public.
