Chief Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting site visits / walk-throughs to assign, inspect, verify and assess maintenance / operational / preventive projects (repair, replacement, renovation) in public / departmental areas to ensure safety and efficiency according to tight schedules
  • Managing interface among different functional departments, contractors, consultants, government departments and professional bodies, and other stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget and to appropriate quality standard
  • Regular updates / progress reports / recommendations to HOD regarding project progress in mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, fire services, plumbing / drainage, safety / security, and other related areas
  • Training and supervising support staff in various areas of departmental operation, e.g. work processes, policies and procedures, workmanship, technical problem-solving, record keeping, filing and documentation, etc. according to Hospital policies and statutory requirements
  • Assisting HOD in implementing departmental budgets, purchasing policies and controls, contractor & tender management, project priorities, labour allocation, etc.
  • Providing support to HOD in reviewing / developing manuals, contracts, risk assessment, audit / accreditation preparation, etc.
  • Assisting HOD in response to employee emergency situations

Entry Requirements:

  • Diploma or above in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent
  • Holder of valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card) and other related certification
  • Min. 8 solid years of working experience / site supervisory experience in relevant positions, preferably gained in hospitals / hotels
  • Practical experience in project, contract and tender management for large scale works
  • Conversant with local building services related legislations and government procedures
  • Proficiency in computer skills
