Matilda International Hospital (MIH) has agreements with most insurance companies in Hong Kong and many international insurers. Below are some important guide notes for patients who will pay through insurance:

  • Direct billing by the appointed insurance company to MIH can only be arranged if an agreement between the two parties is in place.   • For planned admissions, the appointed insurance company will issue a letter of guarantee. Patients can check if it has been duly received by the hospital by contacting the patient service centre at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  • Patients are kindly reminded to clarify the extent of their coverage directly with the appointed insurance company PRIOR to admission, as it may affect the choice of room category. This information may be obtained from the patient’s employer/broker/ or from a dedicated website or other contact methods printed on the back of membership cards
  • Please also note that patients under a co-insurance plan will be responsible for any deductibles or charges outside of the coverage
  • In cases of emergency admissions, patients are kindly requested to notify the appointed insurance company during the hospital stay. The insurance company will contact MIH regarding the patient’s coverage. Please note that MIH will not handle insurance claims once the patient has been discharged
  • Please note that proper documentation is required. Patients who are unable to present the necessary documentation as required by the insurance company and the hospital will be fully responsible for the payment and be required to pay a deposit. If the documentation is still not available on discharge from the hospital, the patient will be required to settle the hospital expenses in full, and contact the insurer for reimbursement.
  • MIH reserves the right to refuse an insurance card or documentation as method of payment.
