With only 1,200 deliveries a year, MIH provides the ideal opportunity for midwives and nurses to spend time counseling and helping mothers with breastfeeding and parent craft. This personalized attention has led to an impressive breastfeeding initiation rate of 97%. While the midwives and obstetrical nurses provide care on a one-to one basis during active labour, in the private health care setting, the obstetricians conduct and perform the deliveries.
