Obstetricians, paediatricians and anaesthetists live on site and perform after office hours back up for emergencies.
We have both a general practitioner and obstetrician on site 24 hours a day to perform on-call duty for emergencies. Paediatricians provide onsite emergency cover from 6pm to 8am and anaesthetists from 7pm to 7am.
Back-up emergency doctors will only be called if your own doctor is unavailable or at their request, e.g. if they are unexpectedly unable to attend your delivery, are detained at another hospital or if there is an unexpected threat to the well being of you or your baby. Prospective parents are advised to check with their obstetrician about the level of obstetric emergency care they provide, to ensure that, if needed, there is an obstetrician and/or paediatrician and/or anaesthetist available for your delivery.
For security reasons the nursery door is locked at all times and only parents are given the access code, a member of staff is stationed in the nursery and the area is covered by 24 hour CCTV.
To prevent accidents please transport the baby in the cot between your room and the nursery.
Should your baby need to be transferred to a public hospital they may charge you a transportation fee.
All visitors should report to the nursing station on arrival to confirm your room number and to ensure the timing of the visit is convenient for you. Your own children and other children over the age of 12 are allowed to visit. To protect your baby there may be times when visiting is limited.
