Paediatric first aid and home safety course
In The United States, accidental injuries are the leading health problem for children 1 to 16 years of age. According to the National Safety Council, injuries cause more deaths among children than all diseases combined and are the leading cause of disability.
First Aid can provide temporary assitance until medical care, if needed, is obtained. Proper first aid can also mean the difference between life and death, rapid and slow recovery, or temporary and permanent disability.
Unintentional injuries are often referred to as accidents because the occur unexpectedly and seem uncontrollable. But most accidents are preventalve if a fews simple injury-prevention steps are practiced consistently.
This course is taught by qualified instructors and classes are taught in a relaxed, simple way. Scenario is included in the classes so that you can practice your skills and get yourself prepared in the real situation.
Topics covered:
Day 1
- basic life support - Child and infant rescue breathing, cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and choking
- actions in an emergency
Day 2
- bleeding and shock - severe allergic reaction
- wounds - infection prevention
- burns - prevention, assessment , care
- head and spine injuries - eyes, nose, mouth injuries
- fractures, dislocations and soft tissue injuies
Day 3
- dressings, bandages and first aid kits
- poisoning
- heat and cold emergencies
- sudden illnesses - seizures, asthma and diabetes
- safety at home
- multiple choice examination (for NSC course only)
This course is suitable for parents and domestic helpers of children from newborn to 8 years of age.
We also provide National Safety Council Course. National Safety Council First Aid certificates are processed and forwarded by mail to students within 14 days. Please check with the Health Education Department for schedule.

CPR and AED Training for Personal Trainers
Vigorous exercise may increase the risk of sudden cardiac arrest and therefore it is especially important for personal trainers to know what to do. Many fitness centres have now installed AEDs to improve safety. The proper use of an AED together with CPR have shown to increase the chance of survival for patients suffering from sudden cardiac arrest from 1.5% to over 70%.
Our 4 hour course includes practical and multiple-choice examination. Topics include, action in an emergency, assessment of the victim and basic life support along with rescue breathing, CPR, the use of the AED a treating choking. Scenarios and role-play are carried out in a fitness centre setting.
Classes can be arranged in your home or office for a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 participants with an additional travelling fee.
