Acupuncture is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that has been practised in China for more than 2,000 years.
Very fine needles are inserted into the skin to stimulate specific points called “acupuncture points”. The disposable needles are as thin as a strand of hair.
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine “Qi” (energy) flows through the body along pathways called “channels” or “meridians.” Qi should flow freely like blood. If the flow of Qi is blocked or obstructed, then pain or illness may result. Acupuncture relieves pain and restores health by dispersing and rebalancing the flow of Qi in the body.
Acupuncture is a safe form of treatment and can be used in conjunction with Western medical treatment. It can also be used during pregnancy. Please inform your acupuncturist if you are pregnant or wish to become pregnant. This will ensure you are given the most appropriate treatment at all times.
