Ultrasound
Ultrasound

Using high-frequency sound waves, ultrasound can provide real-time images of internal organs, muscles and tendons. It can demonstrate the movement, size and structure of the body's internal organs, and any pathological lesions as well as blood flow through vessels. It is generally described as a "safe test" because it does not use ionizing radiation.

Ultrasound can also be used to guide procedures such as needle aspiration or biopsies, in which needles are used to extract sample cells from an abnormal area for laboratory testing. Doppler ultrasound can be used to evaluate blood flow in the body’s major arteries and veins in the abdomen, arms, leg and neck.

Our Ultrasound units have features that allow a broad range of examinations, including those involving blood flow using colour dopler (e.g. neonatal brain), abdomen, carotid, fine needle aspiration and prostate biopsy.
