CT Heart Scan
CT Heart Scan

Early Detection of Heart Disease Can Save Lives
Coronary artery disease is the number 2 killer in Hong Kong. For many people the first and only symptom of coronary artery disease is a fatal heart attack.

A CT heart scan creates 64 credit card-thin images in a single rotation, then coverts them to form a three dimensional view of the heart. The amount of calcified plaque in the arteries of the heart is calculated; the more calcified plaque, the greater the risk of a heart attack.

The test is simple and painless, no needles or injections. The non-invasive procedure means that you remain clothed during the test. You simply lie on the table and hold your breath for a few seconds while the picture is taken. The entire procedure takes about 15 minutes to complete.

Consider having a CT heart scan if you have one or more of the following heart disease risk factors:

  1. male aged 40 and above or female aged 45 and above
  2. smoking
  3. high cholesterol level
  4. inactive lifestyle
  5. family history of heart disease
  6. hypertension
  7. overweight
  8. diabetes
